Shackleton's first voyage
Illustrations for the magazine Storytime
I’m happy to share my latest published work: a series of illustrations created for the Christmas issue of
Storytime, a British magazine filled with
children's classic and new stories.
I worked on a story about Sir Ernest Shackleton, one of the most famous explorers of the Icy continents. The story tells about Shakcleton's childhood and his first embarkment,
earlier than the famous Endurance expedition to Antarctica. The story is published in a section called "Awesome adventures", which collects tales from children before they were
famous, to encourage children to follow their dreams.
It was fascinating to illustrate the beginning of a story we usually encounter at its most extreme moment.
This project felt like tracing the first line of an adventure — the small, decisive step that eventually leads to history.
